Camogie

On Saturday 14th December our Senior Camogie team played the Munster Final V Killaloe in Roscrea GAA field. They were unlucky on the day to lose 3.5 to 1.5. We thank all players especially the 6th years who have given huge commitment to camogie in Coláiste over the years.

On Tuesday 17th December our Junior Camogie played the Presentation Secondary School Thurles. They came up against a strong opposition and lost by 10 points in the end. Both panels of girls gave a brilliant account of themselves and represented the Coláiste extremely well. We are very proud of you all and no doubt there will be other opportunities to shine in the future. Well done to players and management for their time and efforts.

Senior Hurling Munster College B

Colaiste Phobal Roscrea 1-20

Pobail Scoil Na Trionide Youghal 2-12

It was a must-win game for both teams and credit to both teams for serving up a great game under testing conditions. Youghal started strongly but were wasteful from early frees but it was Roscrea who scored first with a Killian Sampson free. The first 15 minutes both teams traded points, with Roscrea holding the lead but only just. A great attack and shot by DJ McLoughlin was saved by the keeper but Lee Doran was on hand to score the goal which briefly gave Roscrea breathing space. Some slack defending allowed Youghal in for a handy goal- albeit well finished.

Roscrea led by the minimum at half time. The second half turned into a great contest with Roscrea opening a 4-point lead only to be pegged back again by the concession of another goal. But it was the ability of the Roscrea forwards to score points during this period and the great defensive work of the backs which eventually saw them over the line. This was a hard earned victory for Roscrea and should stand to them going forward. We now face Doon CBS in the quarter final on January the 8th. Well done to the panel and the management and all the best for the Quarter Final.

Senior Football

On Monday 16th December our Senior Footballers played against Ballingarry in Roscrea GAA. They put up a great performance and deservedly came away with a comprehensive win 3.15 to 1.1, meaning they now progress to play Carrick in the Tipperary Final. Goals came from DJ McLoughlin, Dara Maher and Lee Doran and stand out performances by Luke Seacy and Killian Sampson ensured another victory and the best of luck to players and management in the final.

Junior Girls Soccer

On Wednesday 18th December our Junior Girls Soccer played against Loreto Dalkey in Killavilla. Our first years played their first cup match against Dalkey from Dublin. The conditions were not ideal with constant rain and strong winds. The girls played most of the ball in their half and came away with a win with 4 goals scored by Ella Carey, Lucy Kennedy and a brace from Ceola Bergin. Ceola Bergin was just pipped by Áine Dooley for player of the match. Áine put in a great shift for the whole game. Well done ladies.

School Trip

On Thursday 19th December the Third years and LCA’s went on a trip to Dublin. Thanks to all the teachers who accompanied them.

Christmas Services

Our Senior house students (TY, 5th and 6th) had their Christmas service last 2 classes on Thursday 19th December. On Friday 20th our Junior house (1st, 2nd and 3rd) had their Christmas Service. Thanks to Fr. Lorcan, the Religion Department, our Vocal Group and Musicians and everyone who helped make the Services very special and meaningful for everyone. It was wonderful to welcome Bishop Fintan on Friday morning to join us along with former staff and guests. It was a lovely way to end the school term for 2019.
